Southern Hip-Hop Gets Unwrapped

Hidden Beach Recordings, home of Jill Scott, Mike Phillips and Cornel West (to name a few), prepares to release Vol. 5 of their Unwrapped hip-hop/jazz hybrid series on June 24th, 2008, titled: THE COLLIPARK CAFÉ SESSIONS. This new compilation focuses on an "exciting and inventive contemporary jazz collection of southern hip-hop's club-ready singles that have been etch into pop culture," states Joe Wiggins. The first single is "Get Low", a jazz rendition of the hit song by Lil Jon and East Side Boyz. When we received "Get Low", the Open Music Wire staff felt that Internet radio and podcasts should check it out for program consideration on Urban/Rhythmic, Mix Show and Crossover formats. The radio version is ready for you to download.

Michael Paige - "The Indie Decision"

Astrum Recording artist Michael Paige, who sings in multiple different languages, including English, Spanish, French, Italian and Hebrew, is quit impressive, especially for a vocalist that sounds amazing on the mic without cover-up production tactics. As a non-industry standard practice, Astrum Records plans to impact radio with two singles at the same time with "Dance", an Adult contemporary track with a strong Latin influence, and "Da Le", a Latin Pop track that was recently picked up by Clear Channel Online Music & Radio to be featured in their NEW! program throughout the month of June.

Michael's natural ability to captivate an audience will now be featured on a documentary called The Indie Decision. The central theme is something that may interest the indie artist and label community, as it focuses on making the decision to be indie and why Michael does not need a label deal. In fact, Michael turned down a couple deals, one with a major, in which we promised to not disclose, maybe because of legal advice or it just doesn't really matter. The trailer is now complete and can be seen on YouTube and at TheIndieDecision.com.

The S.U.N. Is Rising

SUN - The OneUnderground hip-hop veteran S.U.N., abbreviated for Scientific Universal Noncommercial, begins to prepare for the launch of his 5th record this year. Titled "The One," this masterpiece comprises of hip-hop and nu-jazz beats with a neo-soul twist. We first listened to "The One - London Edition" back in September of 2007, which blew our minds, especially if you are familiar with his older material. The S.U.N. is rising and has matured to a whole new level.

We recommend you to take a listen to Another Recipe, JPSR (joy pain sun rain) and Masquerade.
