Droppin’ Some Acid JAZZ

By: Josh East

Well, music essentially is a drug. Especially when it comes to the "Medical Cures for the Chromatic Commands of the Inner City", which is the new record release title from Ron Westray, one of the most highly regarded trombonist of his generation. When listening to the record, I was looking for something Sly, Slick and Wicked. That’s where I came across track #2 titled “The Jiggy”, and indeed it did justice for me. The smooth groove of Ron’s skills on the trombone got me in the mood for some lounge activity, which was the exact ambience I was looking for. Though I was skeptical to the track title, with the played out term ‘Jiggy’, Ron brings it back with flavor, representing some new cool.

I never realized a trombone could be so chill. It would be coo to see this instrument used in other genres of music.
