Attention, All Mankind.

Music Genre: Alternative

Another hushhush ATTACK! deliverable got my attention this past week. The band All Mankind, out of Sydney Australia, has been compared to Coldplay by a few editorial reviews. Though, I do see why journalists and social network communities like to alarm the ‘sounds like’ bell, hoping for fans to latch on to the viewed subject, the band members of All Mankind have their own heart and soul with a handful of must hear music running through their veins. Particularly with their current single titled “Can You Hear Me”, which instantly took me on a cathedral moment with its what sounded like an organ intro from overdubs of guitar swells, effects and electronic bow, turned into a beautiful (yes, beautiful) lyrical piece of work. Lead singer Rich Beeston takes you on a spirit-filled rollercoaster ride, lyrically balanced with ying & yang, perfect for pop-cultures constant seeking of revolution, revival and remorse. Yeah, I can hear ya Rich.

Electronica’s Team Player For The Under-Pop World

Though team9 has been around for a few years now, I recently discovered their message through Pitchfork.com. What had struck me about their electronic sensations here was the lyrical delivery of soulful ambitions; mostly because of featured artist Rosie with track titles “As We Travel” (my favorite) and “Ultra Violet”. Team9 also brought one more track to my attention titled “We Don’t Disco Like We Use To”, helping to represent the album’s eclectic touch. To witness such eclecticity, the Aussie team9 “and the founded sound orchestra” has provided their most recent MySplice compilation release, featuring exclusives from Bloc Party and a handful of others, as a free download offer available on Stereogum.

Diablo es Bueno

Yes, the Devil is good. At least music wise for the band members in Diablo of Newcastle, UK. I first heard Diablo on Overplay.com as an industry panel judge for the website’s Play & Rate Song Competition, where the band took 5th place for “Can’t Rain All The Time”. When I first heard this song, the sound brought me back a decade or two with its classic guitar riffs, and it was quit different from the rest of their material fitting more into soft rock than their much harder tracks. This song is definitely an album track, lasting over six minutes in length. If you like to hear that classic soft rock sound, I recommend taking advantage of this free download offer.

Ever Been Souled-Out?

One of the perks working in the evolving music industry is that you sometimes discover artists that you otherwise may not have stumbled across in this competitive world of indie music and all of its growing online destinies. Take Rachel Brown for example, an Urban/Rhythmic artist with Adult Contemporary crossover appeal, who’s first single "Let's Fall in Love Again" reached #1 on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip Hop Singles Sales Charts and #68 in the Hot R&B/Hip Hop Songs Charts back in 2007 under the release “Love, Life & Relationships”. This record also contains a few more radio-friendly songs like “Spend The Night” and “Learn To Love Me” that flows well with the rest of the tracks; and then of course, a buried b-side track just to mess with me. Though these potential singles would be great tracks for airplay consideration, this b-sider titled “Just A Girl” stood out to give birth to the rest, where Rachel has married neo-soul and smooth jazz to form an eclectic sound ready to be heard. In my opinion, Rachel has Souled-Out on this project ... in the sense that she delivers many degrees of her soulfulness. Enjoy!
