BIOGRAPHY
"A fresh sound to my ears, British or wherever, it's new for the world," says Jason Mraz about six piece organic pop band Two Spot Gobi. Mraz caught the band at an intimate club in Plymouth two years ago and has since invited them to support him in the UK and, last November, at his three largest US dates in his home state of California.
Many performances, festivals and four EPs down the line, the band released Sunshine Lady as a download only single in June 2008. An unashamedly up vibe dose of sophisticated summer pop, it grabbed the ears of celebrity blogger Perez Hilton who praised the track as "the ultimate summer jam." Overnight the Gobi MySpace was clogged with around 20,000 hits from smitten new fans and promoters alike, and the band followed up demand for shows stateside with a US TV debut on Good Morning Arizona. This followed with appearances on the East Coast before linking up with Mraz for arena dates at Greek Theatres in Berkley, LA and San Diego.
It's live that Two Spot Gobi really come into their own, though, and they'll be promoting the release of their album with a string of headlining shows across the south plus five more support slots with Mraz as part of his European tour. In between these dates lays the first ever live web cast of an Oscar Awards tie-in, where the band has been invited to perform at Leeza Gibbon's After Party at Mr. Chow in Beverly Hills. This follows their recent award from the Fame Games show on America's ABC radio network as best 'Multi-Style Artist'.
2009 sees the release of TSG's debut album, Everywhere You Should Have Been, a catalogue of the diverse yet cohesive amalgam of their constantly evolving sound.
