MusiK1 has established a promotional service for selective artists and labels who are interested in providing Open Music Wire affiliates with free download offers for their readers, listeners and viewers. Content owners may also be supported under a Creative Commons license, in which MusiK1 recommends the following license:
Attribution Non-commercial No Derivatives (by-nc-nd)
This license is the most restrictive of our six main licenses, allowing redistribution. This license is often called the "free advertising" license because it allows others to download your works and share them with others as long as they mention you and link back to you, but they can't change them in any way or use them commercially.

Once content has been approved for promotion, MusiK1 will then coordinate the following services with participating artists and labels:
- Write-up in the Open Music Column blog with streaming audio and video content.
- Music and Media Kit Download options containing singles, video, album art, pictures, logos and current press releases from Billboard Publicity Wire.
- Exclusive feature in the Open Music Alert emailed to all Open Music Wire affiliates.
- Creative Commons license coordination upon request.
